FEARLESS COLD READING: Turn reading into an adventure instead of an ordeal!

• Learn a 10-point Cold Reading technique that works for ALL kinds of reading auditions

• Know how best to work with a reader, and how to BE a good reader

• Learn "defensive cold reading" that will help you deal with difficult readers and audition partners

• Know when and when not to use movement in a cold reading/reading audition

FEARLESS AUDITION TECHNIQUE:

• Learn how to enter and exit the audition room with confidence and ease

• Learn to STOP commenting negatively on yourself/your audition with your words or manner

• Learn how to "play positive" in the audition room even with difficult or "hard to read" auditors

• Learn how to chit-chat effectively in the audition room, and when to stop.

• Learn powerful grounding techinques that help you deal with nerves

CLASS DESCRIPTION
The class focuses on two things:

FEARLESS COLD READING: A 10-point technique that covers everything you want to walk into the room with for a cold reading. We look at each point and use rehearsal to make it habitual, so that your attention is freed up to work off of your partner/reader and tell the story. We get each person beyond "default choices" and free them up to communicate and have fun. The techniques work for both theater and film, and for rehearsed sides too! We use the Fearless cold reading technique on: Reading with a partner, reading with a reader, reading with a terrible reader, and "defensive cold reading" (like defensive driving - what to do when strange/rude/unexpected things happen).

FEARLESS AUDITION TECHNIQUE: This is about every NON-acting moment you have in the room and how to make the most of it. Are you at ease introducing yourself? Interacting with the casting director/director/producers you meet? Handling chit chat and questions? Leaving gracefully? Using a combination of techniques including positive intentions, size & speed, breathing, physical grounding taken from the martial arts, special out-of-class assignments and practice-practice-practice, each class member can transform the way he or she presents themselves to others in the industry - and anywhere else!

Classes will be held at the Atlantic Acting School in Chelsea unless otherwise specified.

TUITION AND REGISTRATION
If you have not taken class with Karen before, there is an informal interview/chat before you register. To schedule, please call 212 252 4200 or send an e:mail . Former students need not interview; just send an e:mail to receive a registration form. Tuition is $275. Upon acceptance, a deposit of $75 holds your place, and the balance ($200) is due on the first day of class.
